A Brand New Year
School has started back up, and so has JUMP Drama Ministries. Plans are underway for what is looking to be a full year of events. If you are interested in scheduling JUMP to work in your community, contact me. If you are a student of Eastern Nazarene College and would like information about joining JUMP, contact me or look for forthcoming information at the Student Ministry Fair.
So long and thanks for all the fish!
So ends another year of JUMP Drama Ministry. Thanks to the various members of JUMP for facing the year like a warrior and making every meeting and event a true joy. Thanks to the church leaders who invited us to their events and for all the host families for keeping us overnight. Special thanks to Joe Donahue for his hours of assistance in planning and leadership training. Special thanks to Daniele Stodden and Ryan Magnuson for their leadership of SALT and ACTS and to Erin Lafex as JUMP Chaplain. Have a great summer everybody!
Face it like a warrior!
Welcome to the official JUMP Drama Ministry blog! We're constantly seeking to better ourselves and our ministry, and this is one way to keep the world informed of what we do. JUMP is a drama ministry group from Eastern Nazarene College consisting of two teams, SALT and ACTS. For more information, please contact us. We are availible throughout the school year to go to churches, youthgroups, and many other types of events to use drama as a part of a wholistic ministry to demonstrate Christ to others.
SALT at Bethel COTN
Tonight SALT went to Bethel Church of the Nazarene to participate in the Student Ministry. Not to be confused with a youth group, the Bethel student ministry seeks to minister purposefully with a goal of teens ministering to each other. A subtle and often overlooked difference, Bethel is ministering to the youth of Germantown in a way I have seldom seen in my experience with mainstream denominations.
Tonight was opened up with a few songs by "Modern Day Disciples," and we followed up with three skits of our own. As this was our first event of the year, and the first event I had planned, it was very encouraging to see how our skits came together with the theme for that evening. Focusing on "Do Overs," the teens grappled with their own problems, and through this night came to a better understanding of God's grace. Just being there and knowing that our ministry helped these kids deal with hard issues in their lives is a blessing to me that reminds me of the purpose of our ministry.
